Marlene founded La Bonne Vie Designs in 1999 to satisfy her love of design, art and sewing fabrics. It quickly grew into a bustling cottage industry. Although known for her purse designs, she also creates clothing, denim-wear and accessories. She uses new designer fabrics as well as vintage fabrics from around the globe in all of her creations. Her purses cover a broad range of styles including sporty, casual, theme-oriented, "blingy/blingy", glitzy, bridal, prom, evening and whimsical. The bags are accented with beads, Swarovski crystals, antique rhinestone jewelry, family treasures and many more trims.
